In a time when we are feeling the impacts of climate change on the environment, natural disasters are increasing in frequency more rapidly than we’d like — along with the damages. According to findings from Our World in Data, the global economic damage caused by extreme weather in 2021 cost $137.68 billion. The second highest economic damage at $75.96 billion in the same year was due to floods.
